Learn the alphabet
Meet all 28 letters, read from right to left, and use shapes, dots, and sounds to tell them apart.

Turn letters into sounds
Join shapes, add vowels, close syllables, and read doubled consonants.
- One letter, changing shapes — Choose contextual forms and understand all six non-joiners.
- Three small vowel marks — Read fatḥa, kasra, and ḍamma with familiar consonants.
- Hold aa, ii, and uu — Distinguish short vowels from long vowels and consonant w/y.
- Close a syllable with sukuun — Read consonants without inserting an extra vowel, then try ay and aw.
- Double a sound; join laam and alif — Read shadda and the laam–alif ligature, then distinguish two extra spelling signs.
Your first useful words
Read small sets of everyday words and recall them in both directions.

- Food and the sky — Read bread, grapes, sun, and moon with clear sound contrasts.

Count from zero to twenty
Connect Eastern Arabic digits, number names, and quantities.
- Zero to four — Learn the first five digit shapes and their number names.
- Five to nine — Finish the single digits and read their fully marked names.
- Ten and the first teens — Read two-digit values and learn the special forms for eleven and twelve.
- Fourteen to seventeen — Build four teen names and keep the joining t sound.
- Eighteen, nineteen, twenty — Complete the range and distinguish the last teens from twenty.
Build sentences: regular past verbs
Grammar step 1 · Five useful verbs, one set of endings. Learn who did what, from I and you to groups and pairs.
- I wrote, you wrote — Start with kataba and spot the difference between -tu, -ta, and -ti.
- One pattern, five useful verbs — Use the same I and you endings with study, open, enter, and go.
- He did it, she did it — Compare -a for he with -at for she across all five verbs.
- From I to we — Add -naa for we and revisit -tu for I.
- Speaking to a group — Practise -tum and -tunna for you, addressing three or more people.
- Talking about a group — Distinguish they wrote from we wrote: -uu, -na, and -naa.

A1–A2 · People, things and simple sentences
Articles, gender, agreement, pronouns and possession in short written MSA.

- Describe things and make statements — Match adjectives and distinguish a phrase from a sentence.
- Say who someone is — Use subject pronouns in simple identity sentences.
- My book and the student's book — Learn selected suffixes and a two-noun possession phrase.
A1–A2 · What people do
Five familiar verbs in the present, all subject slots, and everyday places.
- I do, we do — Meet the five present stems without guessing from the past.
- You, he and she today — Use singular prefixes and the feminine -īna ending.
- Groups acting now — Contrast -ūna with feminine -na for you and they.
- Exactly two, in the present — Learn the dual ending -āni with explicit gender cues.
- At home, to school — Use core prepositions with the five present verbs.
A1–A2 · Questions, negatives and plans
Ask, negate, plan and make short requests with carefully marked endings.
- Say what does not happen — Use لا with indicative present forms.
- Not a student, not at home — Learn selected forms of ليس and preserve person vowels.
- Who, what, where and when? — Ask simple written questions with familiar sentences.
- Make and decline a plan — Use سـ, سوف and selected لن forms.
- A past negative without a past ending — Meet لم with selected jussive present forms.
