My book and the student's book

Learn selected suffixes and a two-noun possession phrase.

Attach the owner

كتاب becomes كتابي my book, كتابنا our book, كتابه his book, كتابها her book. A possessed noun does not also take ال in these examples.

كتابي / كتابنا

Your book: keep the vowel

كِتَابُكَ means your book to one male; كِتَابُكِ to one female. The u on ب is the model's nominative case vowel; the vowel on ك identifies the owner. Typing must retain كَ or كِ.

كِتَابُكَ / كِتَابُكِ

Two nouns: idafa

كتاب الطالب means the male student's book. The first noun has no ال and no tanwin; the second identifies the owner. The last noun determines definiteness here. مدرسة school changes ة to ت before a suffix: مدرستي my school.

كتاب الطالب / مدرستي
