One pattern, five useful verbs
Use the same I and you endings with study, open, enter, and go.
The idea
Keep the verb stem and change only its ending: daras-tu, fataḥ-ta, dakhal-ti. These five verbs have three sound root consonants and the same past-tense vowel pattern. This rule covers this group; other past patterns and weak verbs will get their own lessons.
دَرَسَ
darasa — he studied
To study
darasa means he studied. Keep daras- and add the ending for your subject.
دَرَسْتُ
darastu — I studied
To open
fataḥa means he opened. Keep fataḥ- and add the ending for your subject.
فَتَحْتُ
fataḥtu — I opened
To enter
dakhala means he entered. Keep dakhal- and add the ending for your subject.
دَخَلْتُ

To go
