Food and the accusative

Order food and use feminine objects with matching adjectives.

An object changes shape

кава → каву (coffee); вода → воду (water); книга → книгу. These feminine -а nouns take -у as singular direct objects. Masculine inanimate суп (soup), хліб (bread) and neuter молоко (milk) stay unchanged in this pattern.

Adjectives change too

гаряча кава → гарячу каву (hot coffee); холодна вода → холодну воду (cold water); нова книга → нову книгу. These are specific singular accusative phrases.

Order politely

Learn я хочу (I want), дайте (give, polite/plural command), будь ласка (please), чай (tea). Хочу is a separately learned form, not one of the five regular paradigms.

Дайте, будь ласка, холодну воду.
