Needs, feelings and recipients

Use dative pronouns and a few recipient forms.

Dative pronouns

мені = to/for me; тобі = to/for you (familiar); йому = to/for him; їй = to/for her; нам = to/for us; вам = to/for you (plural/polite); їм = to/for them.

State and necessity

Мені холодно = I feel cold. Мені треба читати = I need to read. Треба takes an infinitive, not a present personal form. холодно = cold (a state); тепло = warm (a state).

A recipient

Дайте мені воду = Give me water, please/politely. Learn сестра → сестрі, брат → братові or брату as recipients. The person receiving something is distinct from the object received.
