Locations, directions and travel

Use di, ke and dari with everyday destinations.

Three prepositions

di = at/in a location; ke = to a destination; dari = from an origin. Write them separately: di rumah, ke pasar (to the market), dari kantor. Nouns do not receive case endings.

Travel words

pergi = go; datang = come; naik bus = take a bus; stasiun = station; hotel = hotel; pasar = market; kiri = left; kanan = right; lurus = straight ahead. Di sebelah hotel = next to the hotel.

Ask and follow a direction

Di mana stasiun? asks for a location; Ke mana Anda pergi? asks for a destination. Learn Belok kiri (turn left) and Jalan lurus (go straight) as direction instructions.

Saya pergi ke pasar naik bus.
