Mit dem Bus; auf dem or auf den?
Use dative after mit and aus; contrast location with destination.
The idea
Mit and aus take dative. With two-way prepositions such as in and auf, use dative for location and accusative for a destination into/onto a place. Movement alone is not the rule: children can run around in a park while the park remains a dative location. Learn der Bus, die Bahn, das Auto, die Schule, der Tisch and der Park.
