My book and a friend’s house

Use possessive words and selected genitive forms.

Whose?

ჩემი = my; შენი = your (familiar singular); მისი = his/her; ჩვენი = our; თქვენი = your (plural/polite); მათი = their. Use these forms before a nominative noun.

ჩემი წიგნი აქ არის.

My book is here.

A named owner

ნინოს წიგნი = Nino’s book; მეგობრის სახლი = a/the friend’s house. მეგობარი means friend; სახლი means house/home. Learn these genitives explicitly.

Possession with an object

ჩემი წიგნი is nominative; ჩემს წიგნს is dative. შენი წიგნი → შენს წიგნს. Do not keep ჩემი unchanged in the present object phrase.

მე ჩემს წიგნს ვკითხულობ.

I am reading my book.
