At home, at school, and on the way

Separate location forms from destinations and learn selected motion phrases.

Where an action happens

Երևան → Երևանում (in Yerevan); դպրոց school → դպրոցում (at school); հյուրանոց hotel → հյուրանոցում (at the hotel). The locative often ends in -ում, but it is not available for every noun.

An important home form

տուն = home/house; տանը = at home. Before եմ in the practiced sentence, use տանն: Ես տանն եմ։ Learn both complete expressions; do not build a locative by analogy.

Ես տանն եմ աշխատում։

I work at home.

Going to a destination

Ես գնում եմ = I am going; դու գնում ես = you are going; մենք գնում ենք = we are going. Ես գնում եմ դպրոց։ = I am going to school. Use bare դպրոց for this destination, not location դպրոցում.

Finding transport

կայարան = station; Որտե՞ղ է կայարանը։ = Where is the station? The definite naming form is կայարանը.
