Negative actions and identities

Use negative auxiliaries and distinguish չի from չէ.

Negative actions

ես չեմ գրում; դու չես գրում; նա չի գրում; մենք չենք գրում; դուք չեք գրում; նրանք չեն գրում. For the practiced pattern, the negative auxiliary comes before the present participle.

Ես չեմ աշխատում։

I do not work / I am not working.

Negative identities

Ես ուսանող չեմ։ = I am not a student. Նա ուսանող չէ։ = He/she is not a student. Use չէ for the standard third-person negative copula, but չի before a present participle: Նա չի գրում։
