Adjectives before nouns

մեծ big; փոքր small; նոր new; լավ good; թանկ expensive. Attributive adjectives do not change for the noun’s number or case: նոր գիրք, նոր գրքեր, նոր գրքի.

Selected plural forms

գիրք → գրքեր (books); սեղան → սեղաններ (tables); ուսանող → ուսանողներ (students). Learn the changed stem in գրքեր explicitly. With երկու (two), practice the singular-noun construction երկու գիրք; plural nouns can also occur with numerals in other contexts.

A simple comparison

ավելի = more. ավելի մեծ = bigger; ավելի թանկ = more expensive. This lesson compares without naming a than-complement.

Այս գիրքն ավելի թանկ է։

This book is more expensive.

This before a noun

այս is the determiner this: այս գիրքը. Distinguish it from the standalone pronoun սա. In a sentence-initial position write Այս.
